IAA 2015: stretched armored VIP SUV and raised-roof limousine based on Mercedes-Benz

TRASCO stretched and armored VIP vehicles at IAA 2015 in Frankfurt

At the world’s largest automotive show, IAA 2015 in Frankfurt, TRASCO presented its latest achievements in high-end armored vehicle design in Hall 5, Booth B30. A stretched and armored VIP SUV as well as a stretched and armored limousine with raised roof were displayed at the show from September 17th until 27th, 2015.

The newly developed TRASCO VIP SUV is based on the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG and was unveiled for the first time at the IAA. This luxurious vehicle is stretched by +58 cm in total: the rear doors have been extended by +18 cm, resulting in an exclusive, large square door design, and the cargo area has been extended by +40 cm. The vehicle is armored in VR7 (formerly B6). On top, it provides an armored sliding roof, an integrated multifunctional partition wall and an exclusive interior equipped with state-of-the-art technology: an iMac multimedia center with PC/Wi-Fi/CD/DVD, a Bang & Olufsen sound system and ambient LED lighting. All relevant functions can be controlled via an iPhone.

The second vehicle presented at IAA 2015 was a stretched and armored limousine with raised roof, based on the latest Mercedes-Benz S600L (V222) – also a show premiere. The limousine is stretched by +25 cm at every door (+50 cm in total) and has a roof raised by +10 cm, providing an enormous gain of space for its passengers. Large overlapping sections of specialty steel and bulletproof glass build the TRASCO integrated safety cell, so the vehicle provides excellent resistance against firing and even grenades. Certification of the ballistic materials of this vehicle was executed according to VPAM test level 7 (formerly B6). Naturally, many additional standard safety features are installed, such as wheels with run-flat inserts and a fire suppression system.

Like for all TRASCO sedans, new suspension systems have been developed by TRASCO in cooperation with renowned German automotive universities in order to carry the additional weight and to maintain typical handling characteristics. The redeveloped suspension system was presented on the TRASCO booth in direct comparison to a standard suspension of an unarmored vehicle.
