IAA 2017 – A-KIP® lightweight concept and the first armored hybrid limousine

TRASCO booth at IAA 2017 in Frankfurt with the A-KIP® Level 4 armored BMW sedans

This year – at the world’s largest automotive show, IAA 2017 in Frankfurt – TRASCO presented its exclusive A-KIP® armoring concept in level 4 in Hall 5, Booth B30, showing that there is no need to choose between safety and environmental friendliness. Clients can have both. One of the shown armored vehicles was based on the BMW 740Le xDrive iPerformance Hybrid limousine, while the second one was armored on the basis of the new BMW 540i xDrive limousine.

In view of the current security threats within supposedly safe regions such as Europe, the call for appropriate protection in vehicles is rapidly increasing. Having realized this, TRASCO decided to address the issue by developing a cost-effective lightweight protection concept. The TRASCO A-KIP® concept (Anti-Kidnapping) is a lightweight protection concept specially adapted to current threats such as street crime and violent protests. It is designed to protect the vehicle occupants using only certified ballistic materials – ballistic glass and ballistic steel combined with composite materials – while keeping all advantages and comfort of the original vehicle.

Low CO₂ emissions are becoming increasingly important, even for armored vehicles – while at the same time the need for protection grows. TRASCO presented, for the first time worldwide, its answer to both needs at once: the first armored hybrid limousine with a combined electric and petrol engine, based on the BMW 740Le xDrive with A-KIP® level 4 armoring.
