Protection concept

Extended and armored in VR10

The limousine is based on the factory-armored Mercedes-Benz S 680 GUARD in protection level VR10. TRASCO extends it with a 50 cm center body segment and middle doors, and armors the new middle section in VR10 as well.

The armor of the middle section sits in the body structure, not in the doors, with full overlap at both middle doors. The middle section is opaque, with black-painted original glass on the outside.

Certification

Certified materials, documented threat level

The opaque armor materials of the middle section are tested and certified according to VPAM-PM 2007 by a government-approved German VPAM test laboratory; the floor concept was tested by VPAM test laboratories.

VR10 covers the 7.62×54 R B32 armor-piercing incendiary round. The table below documents the weapon, caliber and test condition.

TRASCO Engineering

Re-engineered in Bremen

The 50 cm extension is engineered like a new body variant: from 3D scan and CATIA V5 model to the stamped roof panel, the adapted technical systems and the painted, corrosion-protected body.

Design to OEM standards

Every extension starts with 3D scanning and CATIA V5 modeling according to OEM standards. The body is separated at the B-pillar, a second B-pillar is installed left and right, and the 50 cm center body segment with middle doors is integrated.

Technical systems

Braking system and driveshaft are adjusted to the extension, as are fuel lines, wiring harnesses, the electrical systems and the OEM air-conditioning and heating system. Every conversion goes through testing and quality control in the factory, on test benches and during test drives.
