Reinforced suspension
Heavy-duty shock absorbers, coil springs and upgraded stabilizers matched to the armored weight, plus an adapted body-frame connection. The heavy-duty chassis shows its advantages especially off-road and on rough roads.

Certified as a complete vehicle
The fully certified armored vehicle for protection duties worldwide, built on a platform that TRASCO has armored more than 1,000 times since 1998.
VPAM-BRV 2009 VR7 · VPAM-ERV Edition 3 · STANAG 4569 AEP-55 · BS PAS 301 · Tested and certified as a complete vehicle
Protection concept
The protection concept is a self-supporting armoring cage integrated into the passenger cell. Ballistic steel covers all side walls, doors, pillars, roof, firewall and the barn door; every joint and edge is secured by a 100% overlap system, so there is no straight-line path into the cabin.
Transparent areas use 43 mm curved multi-layer ballistic glass with multi-hit and anti-spall performance, covered by a three-year warranty against delamination. Critical systems remain protected as well: the fuel tank, the AGM battery, the engine control unit and the brake booster are armored, so the vehicle stays drivable when it matters.

Certification program
Complete production vehicles were fired at, mined and blasted under official supervision at the official German proof house in Mellrichstadt and the independent IABG test center. The footage shows the actual certification program of the armored Land Cruiser 300.
Several hundred documented hits, mine and grenade detonations at multiple locations under floor and roof, and a 15 kg TNT blast at only two meters distance: every result was assessed on the complete vehicle with dummies in the seats.
Certification
The armored Land Cruiser 300 is a FULLY CERTIFIED ARMORED VEHICLE: complete production vehicles were fired at, mined and blasted at the official German proof house (Beschussamt) in Mellrichstadt and at the independent IABG test center. The passenger cell with all side walls, doors, pillars, roof, floor, firewall and barn door passed as one protective system.
Beyond the required test program, the roof armor is additionally certified against 90-degree ballistic attack, and all glass is tested in a triple-hit triangle of only 70 mm, considerably harder than the 120 mm the standard requires.
The blast certification follows VPAM-ERV Edition 3 (version of 1 March 2021), which supersedes all previous ERV guidelines with considerably stricter evaluation methods: assessment with a biofidelic dummy and an evaluation matrix based on the trauma room criteria of the German Accident Surgery Association (DGU).

TRASCO Engineering
A vehicle that carries more than a ton of protection must still accelerate, brake and steer. Every armored Land Cruiser 300 is therefore re-engineered in Bremen to automotive OEM standards.
Heavy-duty shock absorbers, coil springs and upgraded stabilizers matched to the armored weight, plus an adapted body-frame connection. The heavy-duty chassis shows its advantages especially off-road and on rough roads.
Front and rear brakes are completely replaced: heavy-duty calipers, discs and pads with steel-braided brake lines, engineered against fading under the higher gross weight.
Heavy-duty rims tested according to the German guidelines for special wheels, tires with a higher load index and run-flat inserts tested to the FINABEL 20.A.5 standard: at least 15 km at 50 km/h on destroyed tires.
New door construction with heavy-duty hinges, designed by FEM analysis and bolted directly to the A- and B-pillar armor, plus reinforced door arresters and gas springs. Every door is fully armored and built for daily use.
Payload, acceleration, handling, braking and run-flat performance of the complete armored vehicle were independently verified by TÜV NORD according to BS PAS 301:2017, with top marks in all braking criteria.
Despite full VR7 protection the vehicle remains nearly visually identical to the standard Land Cruiser 300. Protection that does not announce itself.
Since 1998
TRASCO has armored the Toyota Land Cruiser for more than 25 years: over 1,000 vehicles of the previous generations were built in Bremen, in various armor levels for missions on every continent.
The platform carries a certification tradition as well. Since 2004 TRASCO has had complete Land Cruisers certified at the official German proof house in Mellrichstadt, generation after generation. The armored Land Cruiser 300 continues this line: developed in CAD as one protective system, with the proven overlap principle at every joint.

VR7 is a resistance level of the VPAM-BRV standard, the guideline of the official German and European proof houses for armored vehicles. VR7 defeats assault-rifle ammunition such as 7.62×51 mm ball, tested on the complete vehicle including doors, pillars, glass and joints.
It means a complete production vehicle was fired at and blast-tested by independent test laboratories. The entire TRASCO Land Cruiser 300 was certified by independent institutes: ballistics at the Beschussamt Mellrichstadt, IED blast at IABG, driveability at TÜV NORD.
According to VPAM-ERV Edition 3: the DM31 anti-personnel mine and the HG85 hand grenade under the floor, two simultaneous DM51 hand grenades and an HG85 on the roof, and a side blast of 12.5 kg PETN at 4 m. In addition, STANAG 4569 AEP-55: 15 kg TNT at only 2 m distance.
No. The conversion is nearly visually identical to the series vehicle, which is a core design requirement. Discretion is part of the protection.
Yes. The base vehicle can be supplied either by the customer or by TRASCO. The conversion is carried out completely at our facility in Bremen, Germany.
The run-flat inserts carry the vehicle for up to 15 km at 50 km/h. Run-flat performance was additionally verified in practical driving tests as part of the BS PAS 301 driveability program.
BS PAS 301 is a test for the roadworthiness of civilian armored vehicles. TÜV NORD assessed the complete armored Land Cruiser 300: payload, acceleration, handling and steering under various conditions, braking performance cold and hot, and driving on run-flat inserts. The vehicle passed, with top marks in all braking criteria.
All transparent armor is 43 mm curved multi-layer ballistic glass with multi-hit and anti-spall performance. It is additionally tested in a triple-hit triangle of only 70 mm, harder than the 120 mm the standard requires, and covered by a three-year warranty against delamination.
The heavy-duty rims are tested according to the German guidelines for special wheels for motor vehicles, and the run-flat system according to the FINABEL 20.A.5 standard. On destroyed tires the vehicle continues for at least 15 km at 50 km/h.
The Land Cruiser platform is serviceable through the worldwide Toyota network. Armor-specific service is available in four levels: in your own workshop, at trained local service partners, by the mobile TRASCO Flying Doctor team, or at the Bremen plant, supported by 24/7 hotlines and genuine spare parts including ballistic glass. The build documentation of every vehicle is kept on file for its entire service life.
