Protection concept

High-level protection, reinforced for off-road use

The Land Cruiser 300 Special Forces (SF) is available with high-level protection from level 7 up to level 9 and up to STANAG 4569 level 2, using ballistic materials certified according to VPAM-PM 2007.

For middle and hard off-road conditions, body, frame, suspension and brakes are reinforced with heavy-duty components. Many TRASCO Land Cruiser SF have been built as special support vehicles according to the different requirements of police and special units.

In addition to the standard armored SUV, options for police and special-unit requirements are available, from a rotating armored roof turret to gun ports and a bomb detector.

Certification

Certified ballistic materials, documented threat levels

The armoring uses ballistic materials tested and certified according to VPAM-PM 2007 by government-approved German VPAM test laboratories. The protection levels reach from level 7 up to level 9 and up to STANAG 4569 level 2.

Level 7 protects against assault rifle ammunition such as 7.62×51 mm and 5.56×45 mm, level 8 adds the 7.62×39 mm armor-piercing incendiary round and a 20 mm fragment simulating projectile, level 9 the 7.62×51 mm armor-piercing round with a hard core. The complete threat table below documents every weapon, caliber and test condition.

TRASCO Engineering

Re-engineered in Bremen

The Special Forces version is reinforced for middle and hard off-road conditions: TRASCO upgrades body, frame, suspension, brakes and wheels with heavy-duty components in-house.

Upgraded suspension components of the armored Toyota Land Cruiser: coil springs, stabilizer and shock absorbers

Heavy-duty suspension

Depending on the base vehicle, heavy-duty shock absorbers, springs and sway bars are fitted for the conventional suspension (GX), the kinetic dynamic suspension system (VX) or the automatic height control (VX option). Reinforced body mounts between body and chassis provide more driving stability.

High performance brake disc and heavy-duty pad kit of the armored Toyota Land Cruiser

Heavy-duty brakes

Specially manufactured heavy-duty discs, calipers and pads keep the braking performance and reduce fading, for safe deceleration at all times despite the increased weight.

Rim with run-flat system of the armored Toyota Land Cruiser

Tires, rims and run-flat

Special tires with a higher load index of up to 1,550 kg and on- and off-road capabilities, on rims with proven load capacity. A run-flat system for emergency driving up to 15 km at 50 km/h is standard.
