Defender put to the test: off-road at Les Comes in Spain

Two Defenders with mud on the front and flanks after the off-road drive at Les Comes, Spain

Mud up to the sills, loose rock, narrow forest trails and winding mountain roads: on October 7, 2026, our sales team took the Defender to the internationally renowned off-road grounds of Les Comes near Súria in Catalonia.

800 hectares of terrain

Les Comes lies in the mountains northwest of Barcelona. The private estate covers 800 hectares with more than 80 kilometers of tracks, color-coded by difficulty like ski slopes: from trails any SUV can handle to sections for extreme off-road vehicles. Dust, mud, water and rock alternate. Car manufacturers use the grounds for driving events and tests.

On the road and off-road

The day began on the mountain roads around Súria, then it was off into the terrain: gravel tracks, washed-out gullies, steep climbs and muddy sections. The Defender handles them with ease and is just as convincing on the road afterwards. Where the hood hides the track, its cameras show the terrain directly in front of and beside the wheels on the screen.

The verdict

Technology that inspires: Defender performance that convinces on the road and off it, even in the toughest conditions.
