IAA 2019 – world premiere of the armored Volvo XC90 VPAM VR8

This year – at the world’s largest automotive show, IAA 2019 in Frankfurt – TRASCO presented the new heavily armored Volvo XC90 in protection level VPAM VR8. The full ballistic certification (VPAM-BRV 2009) and the explosive certification (VPAM-ERV 2010) with 12.5 kg PETN and 2× DM51 hand grenades were carried out by the German authority Beschussamt Mellrichstadt.

The XC90 is the perfect canvas for this project: it sits high off the ground for a perfect view, and its T6 petrol engine means it is powerful enough to carry the extra weight. The XC90’s size means that even with the armor, there is plenty of space in the rear for anyone to travel in comfort. The vehicle has a full EU road certification.

The armored XC90 VR8 is the product of TRASCO’s OEM cooperation with Volvo Car Corporation – developed and armored in Bremen, and available through Volvo Cars.
